Robert Redford’s Watershed

One of the most important resources supporting life, is our water. Water is also a major recreational attraction, sustaining wildlife and eco-systems that provide an escape from our urban environments. As our populations continue to grow, we will be required to understand how to manage our uses and our habits to protect the rivers and lakes that we often take for granted.

Exploring a new water ethic, is the message we take away from this film produced and narrated by Robert Redford and directed by award-winning filmmaker Mark Decena. It is a very skillful look at the plight of our water resources and provides an incentive to become involved in a new perspective.

Pacific Place and its residents are very pleased to be involved in the sponsorship of this film event, along with the Old Orchard Gallery. The film will be shown on March 1, 2013, at 7pm in the Old Orchard Gallery. The Gallery is located at 39 S. Old Orchard Ave, Webster Groves, Mo. 63119. PACIFIC PLACE BOOK CLUB

Webster Groves Book Club

If you enjoy a good story and are entertained by novels, fiction, poetry or an occassional biography, it is always nice to visit with someone who has read the same writings. The opportunity to share impressions or find a deeper meaning in the plot adds to your experience. The Pacific Place Book Club comes together once per month to discuss selected readings and share the things that each resident has discovered in the words. It is a very relaxed group, and very good at what they do. As they meet in the Gathering Room, refreshments in hand, the writings come into focus and all of Pacific Place feels better.

If you visit Pacific Place senior Living in Webster Groves, be sure to ask about our book club. Pacific Place is St. Louis Senior Living at its best.

A Walker’s Paradise

Business districts with high walkability such as Old Orchard are in high demand by all age groups, they promote health, boost business, and have sustainable carbon footprints. Pedestrian-friendly areas are interesting, they provide vibrant life on sidewalks, diverse building architecture styles, and a welcoming vibe – they are comfortable like an outdoor living room. Please visit the Walk Score website for more information on how Pacific Place Retirement Community has achieved a Walk Score of 98 out of 100. http://blog.walkscore.com/2011/01/preview-street-smart-walk-score/

The Ladue News recently returned to the Big Sky Cafe see if it was as good as they remembered.  They describe it as cozy and homey as they remembered along with warm colors, bright artwork, and charming mosaics.  It sounds like they had fun jumping into the current menu and were complementary about flavors and presentation.  They did not skip desert, and recommended getting Big Sky back on your short list if it isn’t already there.

Pacific Place is very proud of this fine dining experience within our building, and our residents know they are treated in very special ways.

Birthday Celebration in the Gallery

Gallery Birthday Celebration

Our residents enjoy reserving our Old Orchard Gallery for private parties and diners.  Often they are served by the Big Sky Cafe and their excellent wait staff.  On occasion the resident or their family will plan the entire event and work with one of our Gallery catering companies, like Holly Berry Baking Company or the Art of Entertaining.  Creative treats and table decorations are also available from our very own special business partners next door to the Gallery, such as STL Cupcake or Kind Soap.  At Pacific Place, we know that where you live influences how you live!

Outdoor Living

Outdoor Living – Pacific Place Senior Living

 Webster Groves

Pacific Place offers a broad range of outdoor living opportunities for residents, family and visitors.  There are frequent and well attended garden parties on our enclosed patio and wine garden.  If you appreciate the arts or performances, the College School of Webster Groves performs Shakespeare on the patio, and there are regular art openings and exhibits in the Pacific Place Gallery (Old Orchard Gallery).  It is always good when family and friends look forward to visiting.  Sons and daughters appreciate the neighborhood shopping, dining, and entertainment.  Tropical Moose and St. Louis Cupcake are integral parts of Pacific Place and they are always a treat for the Grandchildren when they come by.  So whether you are looking for a quiet spot to read, enjoy breakfast or lunch on a nice day, or have diner on one of the patios served by the Big Sky Cafe, we hope you will be drawn outside on many memorable occasions.

4th of July

Pacific Place was one of the major supporters of The Webster Community Arts Foundation’s 2012 Community Days Parade float in Webster Groves. The float was almost 40 feet long and 12 feet wide. Our group of artists came through with great colors in their renditions of our commercial buildings and residences. People recognized their buildings and houses along the way and we had a lot of clapping and use of the word “awesome” along the route.

Art Exhibit: JD Dehne

The Art Gallery at Pacific Place, The Old Orchard Gallery, is currently exhibiting the creative works of JD Dehne. The show openned Friday, May 4th with a reception and music by Harpist Hannah Kehe. The reception was very well attended and the residents of Pacific Place enjoyed the Oils, baskets, Ceramics, and paper cutting art by this talented artist. JD’s paper works, show “what can be done with a single sheet of paper”.

Located in the Old Orchard Business District of Webster Groves, the Gallery has been very busy with showers, parties, and exhibitions this year. Paint Webster and the Art&Air Fair will have exhibits during the months of May and June.

New Shops at Pacific Place

Pacific Place adds shops in the Old Orchard Business District

March 2012 – Pacific Place has added two new shops on its property and expanded the Old Orchard Gallery.

St. Louis Cupcakes openned in late February with a large selection of daily cupcake flavors.  Stephanie Chapman is the owner and the creator of cupcakes for every taste.  The ingredients are very fresh, rich in flavor and have no preservatives added.  The baking begins every morning and the shop currently opens at 11 am.  Come by early, the cake melts in your mouth and it is still warm.

Feel free to take your cakes and drinks and sit in the connected Gallery if the seats are full.

Great Clips openned in March and has seen a steady flow of people of all ages making themsleves look good.  The shop demonstrates a new look for Great Clips and is very colorful, clean and bright.  Hurry in while the openning specials are still available.

You can never have too many conveniences and the Pacific Place residents take full advantage of the Orchard Orchard business district.  It is a very special place.
